Meet the Team: Des Gayle

And tonight folks, please let me introduce yet another new Tiger to the ambush. Des Gayle.

Des is a football fan - a Liverpool supporter with a soft spot for Charlton Athletic - but now he's looking for something to pass those summer days too. How better than pulling on the SpecialEffect orange and green and taking to the field with us, eh?

Des has also got a truly fantastic way to spend £100.

Go on mate, take it away ...

Name: Des Gayle

Date of Birth: 1st June 1980

Where were you born, Des? Greenwich, London

Right then mate, how do you earn a living? I’m a video games producer; which translates to professional babysitting.

And what do you do cricket-wise? I tend to swing the heavy bit of wood with my right hand.
When I’m not giving away wides, I chuck the ball at a medium pace also with the right hand.
Blogger comment: I think that might translate to RHB/SRA but we'll see Des, eh?

Who's your favourite cricket team? Surrey

And your favourite ever cricketer? Alec Stewart

What's your earliest cricketing memory? Dad watching Viv Richards on the TV (Blogger comment: Your dad was a man of excellent taste, obviously)

What's the best and worst grounds you've ever played at? I've not played club cricket before so couldn't really say.

Do you have a favourite fielding position? Anywhere with a bit of sun

Favourite other sport? Football

Are you any good at it? I talk a good game

Which sport do you find most boring? Baseball

Who's your all-time sporting hero? Michael Jordan or Pete Sampras

What is the strangest or funniest thing you've ever seen on a cricket field? Me trying to bat

You can have four people round to dinner, past or present, who would they be and why? Nigella Lawson for her culinary delights, Tina Fey for her comedy charms, Bill Gates because he is the only rich guy who doesn’t appear to be a total ass and Andy Gray for football banter.

You have £100 to spend. What do you buy? 400 Dib-Dabs!

Nice one Des. Look forward to seeing you swing that heavy piece of wood mate ... I hope you're going to share those Dib-Dabs too!
