TIGER IN THE SPOTLIGHT: STEVE BRACKLEY

Tonight, the spotlight swings across the 2012 Ambush and comes to rest on one of the founding members of SpecialEffect Tigers Cricket Club. Steve 'Alan' Brackley.

Because he plays his club cricket for Charlton Kings and has a young family, Alan could only play once in the 2012 season. However, he has withdrawn his services from Charlton Kings CC and has promised to try and join the Ambush a bit more in 2013, which will be fantastic.

Alan is a 'proper' cricketer. He's not keen on swinging the willow but his bowling is aggressive, fast and accurate. He gives away very few runs and frightens the living daylights out of most batsmen at our level. Most importantly though, he is a truly great bloke and we always have a great laugh when he plays. Several reasons why we're very happy Alan will be joining the Ambush more in 2013.

In his game for the Tigers last season against Witney RFC at Charlbury CC, Alan gave away just 4.5 an over in a 20/20 slog-a-thon. I distinctly remember he wasn't very happy at the number of runs from his bowling. On one hand, in the context of the game, 4.5 an over was very respectable indeed. However, when you consider over his Tigers career Alan has kept a very mean economy rate of 2.88 an over, you can see why he was annoyed.

Anyway, we're looking forward to playing alongside our mate Alan again in the coming season. With him bowling from one end and Robbie Nicholson from the other, we'll have the village cricket equivalent of the Mumbai Indians' bowling attack!

Tiger, we salute you!
